Dead Language
07:24
|
|||
Time waits for no one
Our time is running out
Here is the chosen one
Here is the one bright enough to lead you out of darkness
But the bustling crowds are completely deaf to the sermon
As the end is looming
He speaks to them in verse
But poetry is a dead language
He draws the scenes of fire and tempest
He draws the scenes in a world where everyone is sightless
Sew your eyes and keep them shut
Don’t let the void get inside you
Sew your eyes and keep them shut
This world is beyond saving now
Stand your ground
And keep the flame
Don’t let them pull you under
Stand your ground
And keep the flame
In endless solitude
In endless evasion

The Quest
05:18
|
|||
A part, immutable, unseen,
Being, before itself had been,
Became. Like dew a triple queen
Shone as the void uncovered:
The silence of deep height was drawn
A veil across the silver dawn
On holy wings that hovered.
The music of three thoughts became
The beauty, that is one white flame,
The justice that surpasses shame,
The victory, the splendour,
The sacred fountain that is whirled
From depths beyond that older world
A new world to engender.
The kingdom is extended. Night
Dwells, and I contemplate the sight
That is not seeing, but the light
That secretly is kindled,
Though oft-time its most holy fire
Lacks oil, whene'er my own Desire
Before desire has dwindled.
I see the thin web binding me
With thirteen cords of unity
Toward the calm centre of the sea.
(O thou supernal mother!)
The triple light my path divides
To twain and fifty sudden sides
Each perfect as each other.
Now backwards, inwards still my mind
Must track the intangible and blind,
And seeking, shall securely find
Hidden in secret places
Fresh feasts for every soul that strives,
New life for many mystic lives,
And strange new forms and faces.
My mind still searches, and attains
By many days and many pains
To That which Is and Was and reigns
Shadowed in four and ten;
And loses self in sacred lands,
And cries and quickens, and understands
Beyond the first Amen.

Empty Rooms
06:38
|
|||
Voices in my head
Are getting louder and louder
Voices of desperation
That cannot be shouted down
What will tomorrow bring?
Empty rooms stay silent
Will I ever find the key and fetch away?
How many years are ahead and how many places?
Why do you bid adieu if you are not leaving?
The night is getting colder
And sleep brings no peace
Nothing but a ghost now
I surrendered long ago
All this time I’ve been the searching one
All this time I’ve been misled

Long Odds
05:48
|
|||
How many million galaxies there are
Who knows? and each has countless stars in it,
And each rolls through eternities afar
Beneath the threshold of the Infinite.
How is it that will all that space to roam
I should have found this mote that spins and leaps
In what unutterable sunlight, foam
Of what unfathomable starry deeps
Who knows!? And how this thousand million souls
And half a thousand million souls of earth
That swarm, all bound for unimagined goals,
All pioneers of death enrolled at birth,
How were they swept away before my sight,
That I might stand upon the single prick
Of infinite space and time as infinite,
Who knows? Yet here I stand, climacteric,
Having found you. Was it by fall of chance?
Then what a stake against what odds I have won!
Was it determined in God's ordinance?
Then wondrous love and pity for His son!
Or was it part of an eternal law?
Then how ineffably beneficent!
Each thought excites an ecstasy of awe,
A rapture rending the mind's firmament.
Infinity -yet you and I have met.
Eternity -yet hand in hand we run.
All odds that I should lose you or forget,
But, soul and spirit and body, we are one.
Is this the child of Chance, or Law, or Will?
Is None or All or One to thank for this?
It will not matter if thanksgiving fill
The endless empyrean with a kiss.

Mute
04:54
|
|||
I hear the wings beating
Against the iron bars
Horrendous birds are incessantly struggling
Trying to escape
They are trapped inside me
A burden I cannot share
They are trapped inside me
And all roads lead to Nevermore
If I could reach you just for a second
And make you see with my eyes
If I could only put into words
The consternation and the beauty
This is a ruthless beast
This is the beast no cage can imprison
This is the fire unquenchable
This is the biblical plague
This is a prayer devoid of hope
This is the inescapable maze
Centuries pass before my eyes
And I stand mute, forever mute

At Sea
05:42
|
|||
As night hath stars, more rare than ships
In ocean, faint from pole to pole,
So all the wonder of her lips
Hints her innavigable soul.
Such lights she gives as guide my barque;
But I am swallowed in the swell
Of her heart's ocean, sagely dark,
That holds my heaven and holds my hell.
In her I live, a mote minute
Dancing a moment in the sun:
In her I die, a sterile shoot
Of nightshade in oblivion.
In her myself dissolves, a grain
Of salt cast careless in the sea;
My passion purifies my pain
To peace past personality.
Love of my life, God grant the years
Confirm the chrism - rose to rood!
Anointing loves, asperging tears
In sanctifying solitude!
Man is so infinitely small
In all these stars, determinate.
Maker and moulder of them all,
Man is so infinitely great!
